Bresnahan’s recognition of the importance of local programming has resulted in the creation of a South Carolina-focused documentary series, “Carolina Stories,” and an Emmy-winning independent film series, “ Southern Lens.”

Under his aegis ETV also has developed a robust slate of news and public affairs shows that includes everything from an ambitious schedule of political debates, to the launch of “The Big Picture,” the centerpiece of ETV’s expanded public-affairs coverage.

Before coming to ETV, Bresnahan served as president and general manager of WVPT-TV, in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia from 1997 to 2001; as general manager at WQPT-TV, Moline, Illinois, and KQCT-TV, Davenport, Iowa; manager of programming and public affairs at Continental Cablevision of New England; and as a communications officer in the mayor's office at Boston City Hall. He taught television production and mass communications at University of Virginia, Emerson College, Endicott College and Boston University.

Since coming to Columbia, Bresnahan has joined the board of directors of the South Carolina Aquarium, the University of SC College of Mass Communication, the South Carolina K-12 School Technology Committee, the Newsplex Directorate, and the State Agency Directors Organization.
