About ETV
Senate Broadcast is Now Closed-Captioned!
In partnership with the clerks of the South Carolina House and Senate, ETV broadcasts daily coverage of the South Carolina General Assembly. Currently, the broadcasts are available within the State House and on ETV's digital satellite system at more than 1900 downlink sites statewide, and on ETV's South Carolina Channel, a digital broadcast service of ETV. Viewers can also find it on many cable systems including Time Warner, Comcast and Comporium. Also, streaming video of the proceedings can be accessed through the General Assembly's web site.
The signal is fed to the in-house system in the State House. Also, anyone located at the 1900 ETV downlink sites can also receive the signal through channels 302 (House) and 307 (Senate). Downlink sites are located in every K-12 school, higher education institution, Clemson Extension offices, and a large number of state and local government agencies, police and fire stations, and businesses statewide
The coverage is managed from a small control room in the State House with two ETV technical directors and robotic cameras located in both chambers. The feeds also provide pool coverage for other media outlets at the State House.
Long-range plans include statewide feeds of the proceedings, real-time captioning and re-running other public affairs programs on these channels.
In addition to the live coverage, ETV's StateHouse Today covers the House of Representatives and Senate live when they are in session, and features taped coverage at length of key House and Senate committee meetings, public hearings and press conferences. It also includes background interviews with most members of the State House. ETV provides live coverage and serves as the broadcast pool for events of state including the State of the State, inaugurations and state funerals. ETV has provided weekly coverage of the General Assembly for nearly two decades.
