The ETV Holocaust Forum

Thanks to a grant from the South Carolina Council on the Holocaust, ETV created a forum on the Holocaust to provide teachers access to a variety of resources when teaching their students about this tragic chapter from human history.

Available now on the forum is South Carolina: Lessons from the Holocaust. This curriculum package is made up of a teacher's guide and interviews with South Carolinians who survived the Holocaust and those who liberated the concentration camps or witnessed the atrocities that took place at them.

The teacher's guide is a stand-alone curriculum package made up of seven overviews summarizing Holocaust related events, 11 teaching lesson plans, student handout sheets, an annotated bibliography of print and video resources, a Holocaust time line, and a glossary.

The interviews, taped over a two-year period by ETV, vary in length, from 30 minutes to two hours.

In addition to South Carolina Voices: Lessons from the Holocaust, a separate Holocaust Bibliography has been added to the forum. Courtesy of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, it is broken into suggested readings for adults and grade levels ranging from elementary to high school.

Another element includes a file entitled Other Curriculum Resources, which directs users to additional Holocaust material found on the World Wide Web.

This ETV Learning Link forum is a collaboration of the South Carolina Council on the Holocaust, ETV, and the South Carolina Department of Education.
