South Carolina ETV
Distance Education Program Guide
Introduction
This marks the sixth year that South Carolina ETV, K12 School Services division has produced a Distance Education Program guide for K-12 schools. This guide includes mostly "live by satellite" programming which is transmitted by SCETV to schools free of charge. Programs herein are electronic field trips, professional development and other classroom enhancement type programs.
The use of these "live" distance education programs can enhance classroom teaching by providing up-to-date, relevant information, often not available in dated textbooks or videotapes.
This web site will be updated often with links to program provider's homepages, teacher lesson plans, student activities, and related correlations to national standards, when available.
Teachers interested in using these programs "live" should consult each provider's web page for advice on how to get the most out of participating in a live, distance education program. Each provider's web page should also provide copyright information. This glossary of commonly used terms may also be useful.
If you have any questions about how to use these distance education programs, consult with your school library media specialist OR the Distance Education Learning Center (DELC) operator in your area.
Finally, if you read or hear about an upcoming satellite delivered teleconference, which is not already in our database, please contact us. We will be happy to research whether SCETV has the rights to receive and retransmit the program to your school.
