Short Distance Learning (SDL)

There are 35 SCETV Distance Education Learning Centers (DELCs) located throughout the state. These centers were originally designed to enable school districts to tape programs or series for use at a later date. Today, these centers do much more.

SCETV's expanding technology is allowing the DELCs to become mini-studios that produce and transmit interactive television programs district-wide. This flexibility allows school districts to tailor programming to meet the needs of individual schools. More and more schools are using the technologies for live, interactive classes, meetings, staff development presentations, and student projects.

SHORT DISTANCE LEARNING (SDL)offers a way to share resources. For example, with the Satellite Educational Resources Consortium we've proven how distance learning works on a national level with a single instructor or team of teachers reaching thousands of students by satellite. Through SDL, a school can share a teacher's specialty with the entire district through live, low-cost, interactive televised classes.
