Satellite Receiver Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I make the blue bars at the top of the screen go away?
A. Press the view button on the receiver. Note: these bars will appear each time you change channels and you must always press the view button to eliminate them.
Q. How do I set the timer function on the satellite receiver?
A. This feature is not supported in the current version of receiver software.
Q. Is there a way to receive SC Educational Radio on the satellite receiver?
A. Yes, tune your receiver to channel 340, 342, or 344. You can also receive the Commission for the Blind broadcasts on channel 342. If The Commission for the Blind is not broadcasting, you will only hear a tone. Please note that there is no video associated with these channels, just audio. Your screen will be black.
Q. Why are some of my classroom TV’s unable to get the satellite channels?
A. By necessity, many of the school’s satellite receivers have modulators in the cable "midband", channels 14 through 22. Some of the older TV’s will only receive channels 2 through 13. If your TV’s cannot receive midband, your must replace them with "cable ready" sets or buy a set top converter for them. Your technician can advise you on the best option for your school.
Q. Should I unplug my receiver at Christmas, Easter, or during the summer?
A. No. Your receiver is sent a continuous stream of authorization data and must be left on to capture this data.
