South Carolina ETV
National Teacher Training Institute
ETV has been part of The National Teacher Training Institute (NTTI) for over a decade. NTTI trains master teachers in hands-on interactive methods for using television and technology in classroom instruction. These master teachers then create lesson plans incorporating video, hands-on activities and the Internet, and model these lessons for their fellow teachers at local Institutes (workshops). After completing an Institute, participants are encouraged to act as master teachers and train their colleagues in their schools or districts in the methods they have learned.
ETV works in cooperation with the SC State Department of Education’s Regional Technology Centers and the Math/Science Centers to extend the impact of the NTTI. Over 2,500 South Carolina teachers have been trained in the NTTI methodology.
This site offers more than 200 South Carolina Standards-based lessons in all subject areas. The lesson From One End to the Other by Master Teacher Becky Haigler was selected to be part of the National Science Teachers Association's prestigious SciLinks program.
The National Teacher Training Institute is funded nationally by Thirteen/WNET, the Cisco Foundation, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and the GE Fund.
The ETV National Teacher Training Institute is funded by the State Technology Fund.
