Myra Elvington
Currently Myra is the Technology Coach for Cowpens Middle School and the Middle School of Pacolet in Spartanburg District 3. Prior to this she taught English at Latta High School, Avalon Academy in Dillon, J.V. Martin High School in Dillon District 2, and was a language arts teacher at Tanglewood Middle School in the Greenville County School District.
Myra earned a BA in Secondary Education from Clemson University and a MA in Technology in Education from Lesley University. In addition, she earned her National Board Certification. She has been named Dillon District 3 Teacher of the Year; Latta High School Teacher of the Year; Dillon County Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year; and Latta High School Star Teacher and Avalon Academy Star Teacher.
Rachel Edwards
Rachel earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from South Carolina State University. She started her teaching career in the fall of 1967 in the Cherokee County school system. She taught ninth grade mathematics for 15 years at Granard High School and West Junior High School. Rachel currently teaches algebra and tech math at Gaffney High School. She holds a M.A.T. from Winthrop University and 30+ hours from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg.
Rachel is an active member of her church youth ministry, the S.C.
Education Association, the NEA, the AKA Sorority, Inc., and serves
on the District Curriculum Writing Team for developing the new curriculum
guide for Tech Math I/II.
Rhonda Edwards
An educator for 26 years, Rhonda is certified to teach all areas of science and has taught most of the different science courses during her career. She currently teaches twelfth grade active physics and ninth grade physical science at Jasper County High School in Ridgeland. Rhonda has a bachelor of science degree in biology from Allen University and has taken technology and science courses from the University of South Carolina, The Citadel, and the Technical College of the Low Country. Rhonda has a master's degree in education from Cambridge College and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Regent University.
Michael Ellis
Michael teaches second grade at Marshall Elementary School in Orangeburg. Along with his duties, Michael serves as the liaison between the school and the School District Technology Team, troubleshoots computer problems, and manages the school's technology budget. He taught fourth grade for five years prior to assuming his present position. He wrote and administered a $12,000 grant from the National Science Foundation through the Bamberg - Calhoun - Orangeburg Math and Science Hub. He has served on the District Mathematics Curriculum Committee.
Barbara Eager
A graduate of Kansas State University, Barbara holds a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a master's degree in education from The Citadel. Since 1991, she has taught fifth grade science and language arts at Springfield Elementary School in Charleston.
Along with teaching at Springfield, Barbara has been an adjunct professor at the Summer Institute at the University of Charleston, taught a math-science Internet connections class for the Charleston Math and Science Hub, and taught a language arts Internet connections class for Charleston county schools. She has been a presenter at the SC Marine Educators' annual conference and the Middle and Elementary Schools Academy of Science Conference. During the 1994-95 school year she was named Springfield Elementary's teacher of the year.
Barbara is a member of the International Reading Association
and the SC Marine Educators' Association.
