Tammie C. Jackson
Jacqueline C. Johnson
Jacqueline teaches ninth graders Math Tech I and algebra at Burke
High School 9th Grade Academy in Charleston. She received
training in S.T.E.M.S through the Charleston Math and Science Hub,
and has served as math liaison at Charleston's Rivers Middle School
for three years. She organized a successful Family Math Night with
100 percent participation by students, faculty, parents and the community
at Rivers Middle School.
Jacqueline is a certified trainer for the Algebra Project based in
Cambridge, MA, and Jackson, MS. She is the Southeast representative
for the Southern Initiative of the Algebra Project and has presented
at numerous conferences on the topic "Bridging the Gap to Algebra." Using
the model developed by Johns Hopkins University, she is currently implementing
the Project Base Learning Project in Charleston County District 20
schools.
Named "Teacher of the Year" last year at Rivers Middle School, Jacqueline holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from South Carolina State University. She is a member of NCTM. Jacqueline's class motto is "Everybody needs math and each one teach one."

Vivian Johnson
Vivian teaches third grade at International Beacon Academy, part of Hilton Head Elementary School.
Prior to that she taught for 12 years in other schools in the Beaufort County School District. In 1995 Vivian was named Hilton Head Elementary's Teacher of the Year. Vivian earned her bachelor of science degree from Northern Illinois University and a master's degree in education from the University of South Carolina.
