Wendy Morris
Wendy is the Technology Curriculum Coach at Chapin Middle School. Prior to that she taught 7th grade Life Science at the school. In addition she has trained middle school teachers in different computer programs; served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina and the University of Charleston through the Midlands Math & Science Hub; taught physical science at the middle and high school levels; and taught high school biology.
In 2000 Wendy won the Second Mile Award, which is given to one staff member each year for going "above and beyond the call of duty" for Irmo Middle School. Since 1994 she has been a master teacher for the Midlands Math & Science Hub; and during the 1993-94 schoolyear she was named Teacher of the Year for Irmo Middle School Campus R and District Honor Roll Teacher of the Year for District 5 in Lexington/Richland Counties.
Wendy holds a BA in Biology from Newberry College; an Interdisciplinary Master of Arts degree in Science Education from the University of South Carolina; and is currently doing post-graduate work at USC.

Elaine B. McClure
Elaine teaches fifth grade at C.C. Pinckney Elementary School on Fort Jackson in Columbia. Prior to joining the faculty of the Fort Jackson Schools in 1973, she taught at Springdale Elementary School in West Columbia and the Charles Lea Rehabilitation Center in Spartanburg.
Her many honors include Teacher of the Year 1988 from Hood Street School, Fort Jackson; Teacher of the Year 2002-2003 Pinckney Elementary; District Teacher of the Year 2002-2003 Fort Jackson Schools; Federal Education Association Nominee for National Education Association Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence 2002-2003; and President’s Award for Outstanding Service—SC Marine Educators Association 2001-2003.
Since 1996 she has served on the SC Marine Educators Association Board of Directors and is a member of the National Marine Educators Association Board of Directors. She is also a facilitator for the ETV/PBS TeacherLine online course initiative.
Elaine earned her B.A. from the University of South Carolina; her M.A. from the University of Alabama; and her Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. Her special interest is science, particularly marine and environmental.
Kinsler B. Mack
Kin has taught high school chemistry for 25 years; the last 12 at Battery Creek High School in Beaufort. He has earned many honors during that time, including Piedmont Section ACS Chemistry Teacher of the Year in 1987 and SCACT Chemistry Teacher of the Year in 1994. He has been named a Woodrow Wilson Master Teacher, a Low Country Math and Science Hub CLI Master Teacher, a Sea Education Association Master Teacher and a NASA NEW participant.
Kin earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Wake Forest University and a master of science degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Vicki Mayfield
During the last 25 years, Vicki has taught in both public and private schools in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. For the last four years she has taught in the literacy program at Greenwood High School. Vicki takes 10th graders who are weak in Language Arts skills and who probably won't pass the Exit Exam. She works to increase their desire to read and write using energetic and innovative methods. She also addresses the English II Standards at the same time. She's the Quiz Team advisor. She earned her bachelor of science degree in social studies from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
Tammy McCarthy
A first grade teacher at Frances Mack Primary in Gaston, Tammy has also taught Pre-K, third and fourth grade. She graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science degree in education and completed work on her master's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Cambridge University last December.
Windy A. Mack
Windy holds a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education from South Carolina State University and master's degree in communications studies from Northern Illinois University. Currently a first grade teacher at Nix Elementary in Orangeburg, she taught kindergarten for three years.
Tracy is very interested in audio and video production and is skilled in Web page design and PowerPoint presentation design.
Teri Marriott
Prior to joining the Midlands Improving Math and Science Hub (MIMS) as a curriculum specialist, Teri taught in Richland School District One for seven years. She has taught in both the fourth grade gifted and talented program and the Title One Reading program.
She was named 2000-2001 School Teacher of the Year and has been a district trainer for the Soar to Success program. Teri is actively involved with CARC, SC2 and SCCTM. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary and early childhood education from Clemson University and is currently seeking a master's degree in public health from the University of South Carolina.
Rebecca McCraw
Rebecca teaches fifth grade at Mary Bramlett Elementary
in Gaffney. Prior to that she taught third grade and has
been a Chapter 1 reading teacher. Rebecca holds a bachelor
of arts degree from Limestone College and a master's degree
from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg. She
had a banner year in 1997 when she was named "Teacher
of the Year" at Mary Bramlett Elementary, "Reading
Teacher of the Year" and was a STAR Conference participant.
She has been involved in a mentor program for the last
four years and is a participant in The South Carolina Reading
Initiative.
Jane R. McRoy
Prior to joining the faculty of Colleton Middle Annex
in Walterboro, Jane taught sixth grade science for 13 years
and seventh and eight grade language arts and social studies
for two years. She holds a bachelor's degree with an additional
18 hours. She is involved with the Innovative Teaching
Project and was named "Innovative Teacher of the Month." She
also has been named "Teacher of the Month." Jane
is a South Carolina Maps trainer and has completed the
Curriculum Leadership Institute and won her Starlab certification.
Charles Miller
Charlie is an instructional technology specialist at Clinton
High School. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Wofford
College and an M.L.S. from the University of South Carolina.
Prior to joining the staff at Clinton High School, he was
a librarian at Bell Street Middle School and taught English
at Laurens District 55 High School and Wagener - Salley
High School. He is a member of the Palmetto State Teachers
Association, the Laurens Reading Council, and SCIRA.
Betty Ann Martin
A sixth-grade teacher at O.P. Earle Elementary School in Spartanburg District One, Betty Ann teaches science, health and social studies. She earned her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the University of South Carolina and is enrolled in the graduate studies program at the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg. In 1998, she was named "Teacher of the Year" at O.P. Earle Elementary.
Kari Meldrum
A native of Aiken, Kari earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of South Carolina—Aiken. She majored in secondary education and math. She teaches at Summit Parkway Middle School in Columbia where she began her career in 1995. Kari coaches the MathCounts team and accompanied a Summit Parkway student to the national competition in Washington, DC, in 1997.
Kari was awarded an EIA grant in 1998. She integrates
the grant with inventive teaching ideas to enhance her
algebra, pre-algebra and transition math classes. She is
also a unit leader and serves on the school's technology
committee.
Catherine Musgrove
Catherine has been teaching third grade for four years at Ashley Hall in Charleston. She has received training in the Chicago Everyday Math program and has participated in Curriculum Leadership Institutes 1 and 2. She is now a consultant for the Charleston Math and Science Hub. A large portion of her professional development work has focused on how girls learn math and science.
Catherine has a bachelor of arts degree from the College
of Charleston and a M.A.T. degree from the University of
Charleston.
Ellen Mintz
The start of the 1997-98 school year marked the beginning of Ellen's tenth year as a teacher at Orange Grove Elementary School in Charleston. Ellen earned her bachelor's degree in secondary education from the University of Miami and her master's degree in elementary education from the University of Charleston.
Ellen has taken additional graduate courses, including one on digital imaging and Web authoring. Her knowledge of computers and the Internet prepared her to teach fellow educators about math-science and language arts Internet connections and ways to integrate computers into their classrooms. She also has been an adjunct professor at the University of Charleston.
In 1996 Ellen was a presenter at the SC Science Council
Convention and at Showcase `96What's Right with Schools
in South Carolina? Ellen is a member of the National Council
of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Science Teachers
Association, the SC Science Council, and the International
Reading Association. In 1995 she was named Orange Grove
Elementary School's Teacher of the Year, and in 1996 she
was named St. Andrews Council PTA Teacher of the Year.
