With ETV and ETV Radio
Five G. Richard Shafto internships, one John B. Bullington internship and one Clemson University/Rowland P. Alston, Sr. Memorial internship funded by the ETV Endowment of South Carolina are available with ETV Television and ETV Radio for the summer of 2008. Students will be required to work 40-hour weeks in a professional department at ETV or at Clemson University for 10 weeks, at $180 per week. Beginning and ending dates are flexible.
ETV is South Carolina's statewide network with 11 television stations, eight radio stations and a closed-circuit educational telecommunications system in more than 2,000 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies. ETV uses the power of TV, radio, satellite and the Internet to advance education, culture and citizenship. With our award-winning local productions, such as "Carolina Stories," "Southern Lens" and the current-affairs series, "The Big Picture," ETV is committed to showcasing the people, places, history and beauty of South Carolina. ETV is committed to using the expanded digital channel capacity to help meet the state's educational challenges.
Students are placed in ETV and ETV Radio departments based on the needs of the network, plus the skills and career interests of the applicants. One of the seven internships is permanently assigned to WNSC-TV in Rock Hill; five will be placed either in Columbia or at one of the network's other regional stations (Spartanburg, Sumter or Beaufort). The seventh internship provides hands-on training in broadcast production and creative services for the popular ETV Radio program, Your Day, produced by Clemson Unversity Radio Productions. This intern will be based in Clemson.
Applications for the following summer are available online below. Completed applications must be received by February 4, 2008. Applications are reviewed and selected by a committee representing ETV, ETV Radio, and the ETV Endowment.
The criteria for selection is a career interest in a field in which ETV or ETV Radio has professional activities, along with applicant's scholastic record and experience, and participation in activities other than academic. Students applying must be either a resident of South Carolina or attending a College or University in South Carolina. Internships are announced in April.
