How can I help with ETV and Radio membership campaigns?
Serve as a pledge phone volunteer. Membership campaigns traditionally occur in March, August, and December for television; April and October for radio; as well as with smaller campaigns throughout the year.
What does a pledge phone volunteer do?
Answer phones and process incoming pledges from new and current members during pledge shifts. Headsets and computer terminals are used by volunteers to process pledges.
What skills are needed?
Good telephone skills, a courteous nature, and attention to detail.
How will I be trained? Will there be someone present to answer my questions at all times?
A volunteer pledge supervisor will train you at your scheduled report time and will be available to assist you with any questions. The pledge supervisor will also handle any difficult calls.
Where do I report?
Television pledge phone volunteers should report to the ETV Telecommunications Center at 1041 George Rogers Boulevard, Columbia, SC 29201. Groups should contain 10 to 20 phone volunteers, depending on shift.
Radio pledge phone volunteers should report to the ETV and Radio Administration Building at 1101 George Rogers Boulevard (next to Williams-Brice Football Stadium), Columbia, SC 29201. Groups should contain five to eight phone volunteers, as needed per shift.
Will I have to call and solicit anyone?
No. Pledge phone volunteers are not asked to make any phone solicitations and will only process incoming calls.
Why are membership campaigns important?
Membership campaigns are the ETV Endowment's single most efficient source of acquiring new members. Member contributions purchase evening television programming and all radio programming. Goals are established for each campaign that enable us to continue and enhance programming.
