An often-quoted expert on Southern politics, Scott Huffmon (Ph.D., University of Mississippi, American politics, political methodology) is associate professor of political science and director of the Social and Behavioral Research Laboratory at Winthrop. He manages all lab projects including constructing questionnaires, programming survey software, determining sampling frames, establishing appropriate survey methodology, overseeing interviewer training and supervision, establishing protocols for data collection, and conducting data analysis. Huffmon's extensive experience in survey research began as a research associate with the Social Science Research Laboratory at the University of Mississippi where he aided in the design, creation, implementation and analysis of telephone and mail surveys, among other responsibilities. Additional quantitative training came at the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research at the University of Michigan where he studied maximum likelihood analysis and scaling and dimensional analysis.
